help please front fender removal

Hi,
guys just bought a front fender extender for a 1200gs adv,
can you remove the front fender without removing the front wheel, I see theres for torx screws under neath .
any help would be great.

No you can't and yes you do ,fit it in situe no need to remove anything

Thats an item I'm looking for myself - which one did you go with - and how does it attach?

I've seen some which bolt on - others which stick on. Would prefer not to damage the original parts, but at the same time, if stick on doesn't stay stuck - then it's no good either!

Hi 1157,
is that what you,d do offer it up stick in place with double sided tape then drill carefully in situ for screws while wheel fender and wheel still on bike.

I got one today off fleabay £16.99 from pyramid plastics,
yes it has double sided tape to get in positon but then has 4 plastic push fit that needs 4 , 4mm holes drilled some come with self tappers

Take the front wheel out if only to make sure the spindle is properly greased. It's also a great chance to properly check the brakes for crud.

But the real advantage is the torx screws and internal bracket that hold the mudguard in place can get crudded up so removing them could be a stitch in time. Also its MUCH easier to get the extender on straight if its done off the bike.

I used one pack windscreen mastic to attach mine with white spirit to wipe a neat clean edge. I'm sure a windscreens fitters would also attach it for minimal £s. TBH its much better than using screws and it could be cut off again with no lasting damage to either part.

I just fitted one of Pyramid Plastics Fenda Extenda's at the weekend and the instructions said not to remove the front mudguard. I cleaned the underside with brake cleaner, stuck the extenda on, drilled four 4mm holes then riveted it on with SS rivets.

Hi,
that,s a thought to no drilling I have a new tube of that black silicone they use for bonding spoilers and body kits to cars.
I can clean the inside of front mudguard and bond it in place no drilling hold it in place with tape while setting.

The spoiler mastic might clean off with white spirit like my windscreen mastic did. I taped mine but still ended up using white spirit and got a really clean looking job. Leave the tape too long and you'll get feathery edges. Move it too soon and it's all messy.

Acrylic gloves are a must have the mastic stuff really stains.
