A cry for help! :tears

We're in Austria near Lienz, 5 days into our trip. Zumo 550 worked great until last night, after taking it off bike it was completely blank. Put it back on bike (GS12) and has still not come back. Have pressed power and plus key which little leaflet says is recommended......nothing.

Does anyone know of a fix? We have tried a few places in Lienz but not managed to find a Zumo seller. :(

We'll have to manage without but it would be better if we could get it going again....any ideas people??

Thanx

Was just talking to PhilNI for you. He sorted this type of problem for a mate of his recently. He says you are correct to press power and plus but you need to hold them for a few seconds.

Its a known issue but a Scott says 9 out 10 units will start up again if you remove the battery and let it reset that way.

Only problem is, you need a 2mm Allen key to get the battery off.

Could it be that the battery is simply dead? Was it showing the appropriate symbol to show it was receiving power before it went off? I have no idea what this symboel might be, but there's a battery with a plug on top of it on a Quest 2.

While it might be a complicated unit problem, maybe if the power supply has somehow cut off, if has been runnign on internal batteyr until it has just died?

Good luck.

(PS have you done Grossglockner yet?)

Thanks Guys

Thanks for the handy hints. The battery removal seems to work, although I've had to do it more than once.

The belting weather has gone well with the absolutely awesome roads. The Grossglockner was wonderful, thanks Robin. We've spent the last couple of days around Arabba in Italy and it really is the most God-blessed place for a motorcycle rider I've ever seen. :Motomartin

Also it's easy to get a fabulous hotel, half board for £25 ish per person. :beerjug: :beerjug:

Ride report to follow from Topcat on return! :aidan

Always grateful to the army of willing volunteers and experts who's helpful hints and expert advice pull the not so IT minded people like myself from smashing electronic devices against the wall when then fail us. Thanks to this particular forum I breath a sigh of relief as after hard wiring my new Zumo 550 into the bike direct to the battery and then removing it, it would not restart, F***! After finally finding a suitable allen key and removing and refitting the battery, back to normal, thanks everyone AGAIN!!!!!
