I bought a set of official BMW 'winglets' for my standard 1200GS, but when I came to fit them, I found that they come into conflict with the standard screen (so I haven't yet fitted them).
Is this normal? Do I need to file or cut a part of my screen off, if I want to be able to position the screen differently than just the lowest position? It certainly seems so! Or am I positioning them wrong?

Any help would be very helpful, thanks in advance,

John

I cut the points off my stock screen as for my height I prefer it at full height.

Basically took a straight line from the screen and cut down with a dremel and cleaned and polished it up to look normal

Thanks for the reply, terayon! :thumb2
So it's a just a case of cutting off the bottom 'triangles' then? Many thanks, once again.

John,

STOP.......please dont cut anything yet!!!!!

Do a search, coz I am sure that others have fitted them without doing any cutting at all!

Looked into this and most of the guys that have fitted these only have their screen on the lower settings, or they have got the NN winglets that take into account the points on the Gs screen. The GSA that the BMW winglets was designed for doesn't have these points.

As Alan says stop and think about it. I did for 3 weeks

Many thanks for the replies! Don't worry, I haven't cut anything off yet!
I'm off to Germany tomorrow for a few days, so I'll have a think in the mean time what I want to do with the screen, although I'll probably try it in the lower position without any cutting, just to see if it makes an improvement!
Thanks once again! :thumb
