I was busy replacing my rear subframe and doing a valve adjustment on my 2006 BMW F650GS Dakar. I've put the baby back together again only to be left with this mystery sensor. At least I assume it's a sensor!

It connects to the wiring loom next to the fuse box.

Any suggestions appreciated

Replying to my own thread!

OK, so my mystery has been solved.

I replaced my airbox bracket with one which doesn't have a fixation point for the "sensor". Turns out it's not even a sensor.... here is a reply I received to my SOS:

"that is the positive lead to your battery (for jumpstarting the bike without having to take the cover off and get to the battery) originally it has a plastic cap to protect it from dust, but you seem to be missing it. Dont connect anything there (just leave it open) unless you need the positive pole of your battery... YOU WILL SHORT THE CIRCUIT IF YOU CONNECT A NEGATIVE CABLE TO IT!"

So there you have it!
