I have used a streetpilot 111 for years now and find it indispensible as I use it for work as well as on my bike.
I am seriously considering upgrading to a 2720 but I am unable to get my hands on one to play with, and evaluate to see if it is worth the change.
Is there anybody out there within a striking distance of Bury Lancashire who has one and is willing to give me a demo.
Thanks
Dave

No-brainer for me to upgrade.
It's much faster to start/load-up.
It's much, much faster to enter the address with the whole alphabet on one touch-screen and because you get a 8-digit postcode look-up.
It's much, much faster to calculate an initial route and a new one if you miss a turning.
It's a lot of money because you have to buy all the maps again. Since I was on V6, I was about to spend on an upgrade anyway.

Upgrading to 2720

Thanks for the reply John
I am unsure how good the postcode search is, as my present sp111 with v7 doesn't know a lot of streets and I have to use streetmap on the internet to find them, this just works off postcode and never misses.
My house is on an unadopted road which v7 doesn't know will you see if yours will find it with the postcode BL00EY the "0" are zeros.
Thanks
Dave
ps anymore practical info on the 2720?

The Garmin 2720...

2720 works well for me!

Quick and easy to program your destination address/postcode with touch screen, quick reroutes and no slouching coming up to junctions when you most need it...

I had a Quest 2 which had lots of problems and was very slooooooowwww to do anything except lose sat lock. :mmmm

The 2720 in happy contrast works great, only slight drawback is it's a little bulky after pocket size Quest and there is no onboard battery so it has to be plugged in to work, but I didn't buy it to go fellwalking so it's fine.

Ace gadget, day or night, car or bike, you won't be dissappointed :thumb :thumb

According to CN8 NT (running either on a 2720 or on MapSource) your road is Bond Street, Edenfield, Lancs.

I have a 2720 and a guy I ride with fairly regularly has an SPIII. When out riding, if we go off route we've often covered a couple of miles after the 2720 has completed its re-calculation before his SPIII has managed to come up with a revised route - it's that much faster.

Wedders Gasman,
Navteq supply the maps. As to whether you can find a road, it doesn't matter whether you are using V8 on a 2720 or an SPIII - they know about the same roads. If mine won't find your road from the postcode at V8 then I assume it would at v9 or after.
It's the unit itself that is more friendly.

Thanks for the reply. Bond St. is the next road to mine so it's not far out.
Sorry one more question- Is there a full postcode search facility in mapsource v8 on the computer. I ask this as I tend to create waypoints for my work on the computer the night before and download them to the unit.
Thanks
Dave

bigbob1 is correct, but his answer needs qualification:

Full UK postcode search became available within MapSource from version 6.10.2 but only if you're using CN8 NT. This is important because the non-NT version of CN8 (as can be used on Quest 1, SPIII, SP2610, etc) does not support full UK postcode search either on the GPSR or within MapSource.
