I just bought a set of crash bars and upper bodywork protection bars from motorworks and boy am i annoyed. Not with Motorworks but with the dumbkopf who designed the fitting kit. In fairness when you pay almost 300 notes for this gear, the least you should expect are bolts that are long enough and brackets that actually reach the hole their supposed to bolt to.
I appreciate the kit was originally designed for the 1150, but FFS at least they could get the bolts and brackets right.:blast

Anyone else have problems like this???

Your right, it is fiddly, but i'd get over that.
My problems are.

Bolts too short, so not tightening up, they're pulling out of the engine.
I fixed this with 2 of them by finding identical but slightly longer bolts
from my own collection of fasteners.
One of the brackets for fixing the upper protection bars to the crashbars
is too short, the right side one is fine but the left side one needs to be half
an inch longer...it's not.
Finally, the protective coating on the sliding parts of the upper bars prevent
them from engaging with each other. It'll need to be removed.
Sloppy measuring i reckon.

no problem

I bought a second hand set of bars and ordered a fitting kit from a H&B agent. Arrived and everything fitted perfectly:D Best of all, I wasn't charged anything:thumb2

I thought maybe i'd been sent an 1150 kit, but it did contain the right angle bracket ( 1100 only )for the right side of the bike. Anyway, there's still the issue of the upper bars needing to have some of the protective coating ( plastic ) removed before the two halves will slide together.
I will make it fit, but i shouldn't have to resort to using my own bolts and brackets. The instructions were in German too, but i have a bit of Deutsch so thats not a problem.

Am i moaning too much and should i just HTFU as they say on the other bike forum....

Gently

Try and assemble the whole thing loosely. You may have to bully some of the brackets to get the holes on the bars to line up with the frame holes.I found the upper section was a motherf**ker to line up. Dont be afraid to bend them slightly either. Two people is a definite advantage:DWhen you have all the bolts entered you should be ok to start tightening.Start with the smaller bolts first.

Way back in the mists of time, when this site was dewy-eyed and sparkley new, a very nice man called Simon Eassom encountered similar problems with H&B bars and wrote this helpful thread which includes a pdf file with fitting instructions translated from ther original Mandarin/Norse. Although it was for the 1150, one assumes that the 1100 is similar

Thanks lads, i'll have another go. I got them fitted but i had to make a slightly longer bracket for the left side upper bar to fix to the engine bar.
