Today a mate and I decided to fit H&B crash bars to my bike. The instructions suggested that it could take as little as 30 minutes…..and it took 4 HOURS!!!!
Why you may ask? Because H&B supplied a bolt that was slightly bent …. not enough to notice without close scrutiny. However, enough to make you wonder if you are cross threading as you try to tighten it. We spent an hour checking and rechecking the bar lined up with the hole because each time we tried to screw it in it became tight before it was fully in. It took some time before we realised that it was a bolt not our poor lining up.
The bastards sent us a bent bolt!!!!! We then spent 2 hours trying to find a shop open on a Saturday that sold a 65 mm M10.
So if anyone gets anything from H&B my tip is - roll the bolts along a table edge first, to check it straight, before starting work. That way you can at least ride the bike down to the shop to get the type of bolts that B&H should have supplied!!!!
