Hi,

As we are all aware the instructions for the H&B Pannier rails come in German.. i have downloaded these as .pdf...

Has anybody translated these into english and if so could you send me the translation?

I know i could use Bable fish etc, but you cannot lift the txt from a .pdf and none of the "free" tools on the interweb seem to work!.. as i understand it the .pdf is an "image" therfore i cannot lift the text.

I have the Hepco and Becker Pannier rails and all the fittings ( no two bolts the same and random spacers!!) i could just "offer the frames" to the bike and use trial and error but if somebody has an english version that would save time!!....(Well me time:augie) i have googled the US, Aus and the UK and all i get is the German version!!!!..

i have also found lots of help ref H&B engine bars but not pannier rails!!!..

Once fitted i will have a set of system panniers with "overland" lids (extra 6 litres per side) and internal dividers up for sale....probably gonna want £150 to include the system rails .... i'll post in FS&W at the right time,...

if you want you can send it on to me and i ll try and get you a translation. should not be that big a deal....!
Thomas

Translation won't be of much help - all spacers are called spacers with no reference to their sizes.

It's fairly obvious what goes where when you offer it up.

I fitted a set of these earlier this week. Was a litle fiddly, and you need a decent set of tools but as Steptoe said, it's pretty self explanatory - well, mine haven't fallen off yet so I must have done something right!

Just get your spanners out and give it a go... Not much can go wrong I reckon.

Thanks to all for offers of help/translation... going to dive in and give it a go over christmas.....

Having fitted several pannier systems to several bikes over the years I would just give you one tip. Do all the bolts up loosely to start with and then tighten them all up at the end. You will probably need the little bit of `play` to get all the bolts located.

well i fitted the panniers today and all went ok... but...... they do seem to sit a little well "tilted in" at the top?? is this normal?? or have i cocked the job..

both frames look "square" but when panniers are fitted they tilt in at the top..

the only thing i am concerned about is the exhaust side mounting..

i have gone Footrest, Pannier frame bracket, exhaust... from left to right

should i have gone Footrest, Exhaust, Pannier Frame bracket? this would move the bottom of the frame in an inch?? i think i have done it correctly, ie i unbolted the exhaust mount and "inserted" the pannier bracket between the footrest hanger and the exhuast then fitted the longer bolt in the kit.. will post up some piccies after tea!

anybody on here with H & B Panniers??

I've bought a set for the Tenere, but not yet fitted them. My instructions are in English and German, so I feel considerably lucky.

That's normal with H&B panniers.

Thanks Steptoe, went out for 60 odd miles yesterday and they did'nt fall off... :thumb2 also tracked down a rear end H&B setup picture from ADV Rider and they are the same sort of "toe in".....

thanks for putting my mind at rest.....

Thanks to all for help/guidance/comforting words.......!

Can any of you nice people tell me if the H&B pannier frames are the same for the 1100 and 1150, I have bought some used ones and offered them up to the bike and the mounting points look to be a little out:(

Could just be me of course :duno

Answered my own question.......it was just me of course :blush

I remember mine didn't look right at all...but they went together ok once every thing was losened....been up and down the UK / alps/ picos/ pyranees no bother... Still sort of winds me up that they do not sit level but hay ho!!

I have the H&B frames and mine tilt out at bottom also, was thinking of making a new brace that goes between them to pull them in a bit.

Akchooly, mine have lined up nice and square.......which will probably mean they're fitted wrong:blast
