Hi guy's advice/knowledge sort, hopefully off to Italy today
had my bike (02/1150, yep I know it's low milage
) serviced by local BMW dealers, 24,000 mile service, (£356
) put some new tyres on my spare wheels and put the wheels and tyres on yesterday (should have done it last week
, but finding old Tourances has been er sumwot difficult) bloody rear pads are worn and quite a bit more on one pad than the other
, told dealer I was off to Italy, would have thought they would have mentioned it? Can't talk to them or remedy/inquire about that cause there not open Monday's!!
When I swapped wheels also noticed rear shaft gaiter (the big one at the end of the swinging arm) has a tear about 1inch long, on the inside nearest the wheel, it is difficult to see but not if your doing a 24000mile service with the bike up on a bike lift, thought they might of spootted it, is this just a gaiter to stop dirt ingress to the rear drive? Or is it even more important? Would you still go to Italy (3000/3500 miles 10 days) or fix/bodge any ideas or advice greatly appreciated, yeah I know stay out of the rivers and fords! Helpful or funny advice still appreciated, all the best Dusan
