timeout message engine 1

25072 faulty adc value of rear speed sensor

i ve tried a new speedo sensor but to no avail

i will be muchas gratefull

thanks mark

check the wiring - I'm guessing the speedo sensor eventually disappears into the canbus somewhere so the wiring to check will be fairly short. Then check the wiring the other end, from canbus to speedo.

After that, you need to reset the fault codes using a suitable device and then see if the fault returns. There might be someone local to you with a GS911 device that could do the job.

I've got a GS911 but my bike is a R1150 so I don't know if there are diagnostic routines you can do to check individual components e.g. read sensor outputs or send pulses to the speedo to make it display a speed.

It might be worth checking the multiplug beneath the instument cluster to ensure it is tight. The rear speedo input goes to the instruments IIRC, which are then connected to the main ecu across the CAN network. A loose connection could possibly cause the errors you mention, lets face it the poor instrument cluster gets a lot of vibration through it.

I have a GS911 which I'm happy to plug in to your bike should you need help, however I doubt it will tell you anything you don't already know but it could clear any fault codes.

You presumeably have an ABS equipped bike here (servo type).
Firstly remove the fuel tank and check the wiring harness where it routes around the right side of the frame before it connects to the ABS pump. It was not unusual for the harness to rub against the frame and expose the wiring.
If you open up the harness in this area the wires to look for are white/brown tracer & white/black tracer. Make sure they've not had the protective coating rubbed away. With the sensor still connected you can test the circuit from the ABS pump with an ohm meter.
Worst case senario will be the ABS pump up the shoot which is usually the case. However you may need a trip to your local dealer to check other bits of the speedo related circuit which you won't be able to do at home even if you've got access to a GS911

From experience the rear speed sensor is related to the ABS unit, and this unit also has an ECU to which the error may refer to.

Am assuming your brakes are working correctly? Is your speedo working at all? When I had issues with the wrong FD fitted it confused the ABS unit and the rear brake refused to work when required.

ABS units are bl**dy expensive- I should know. Also be wary if you decide to go down the second hand route- the unit is the same across the whole of the R1200 range and K1200 range from around 2004-2007(ish) but once the unit has been installed to a bike (eg to a GS or an RT) the model code cannot be re-programmed.

Suggest the only way to properly sort this is to go to a knowledgeable dealer with the correct kit. Only then will you know whether this is an expensive error code or a cheap one.

Thanks

The brakes all work fine

ill try the things suggested before a trip to the dealer other than the speedo not working and the alarrm lights the bike seems fine my guess is it a wiring fault somewere ill let you know when i do thanks for your help guys
