Hi y'all
I'm looking for a suitable Hi-Vis vest to wear over a textile jacket - I dont want to buy a full Hi-Vis jacket. There are loads of naff cheapo options out there, but I want, at a minimum, a zipped front rather than velcro, some areas of mesh/stretch so that it doesn't rip when putting it on etc, and reasonable wear 'n tear proof so that it can be stored rolled-up if needed. Something like this might be nice, but a bit too rozzer-like, and probably very pricey.

On a recent pre-RoSPA assessment with a trainer he surprised me by saying that a RoSPA examiner would take a poor view of turning up for the test without a Hi Vis option.........
Any (helpful) suggestions ?

try Flea Bay
Type in ...Hi Viz or Ex Police.

last one i got (full over jacket) was around £7 inc. It was like new, very light weight and had loads of reflective tape (some in blue and white).

Tazwick.

I buy the one's off ebay. They become fairly useless after a few months due to road grime, so you need to change regularly. I use the velcro fronted ones which keep together up to about 150mph.

Got a great one reccomended off a similar thread here just over a year ago. Can't remember who from now though :blast

Made from flouro mesh with full sleeves, white tape on the front and red tape on the sleeves and back with a zip up front.

Very light weight (rolls up into back pocket of my Twat jacket) and when on you don't know it's there.

Hasn't faded yet and when washed comes up like new :thumb2

EDIT: Found it here, it's the £13.19 one. Really good bit of kit! Linky

I'm surprised at that. Didnt wear anything hi viz bar what's sewn into my clothing for my Bike Safe, IAM and ROSPA assessments. The examiners are about 100 times more concerned with your abilities as a rider rather than your preferences for yellow belts and clothing.

Hi viz

I usually get mine from these people, www.icu-ucme.com

Fluorescent Over-Jackets £13.19

Light weight biker jacket
Knitted fabric
Red Relexite braces
3M Scotchlite TM tape
100% polyester high visibility fabric
Zip front fastening
Conforms to EN471: 1994 Class 3
Sizes S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL

Nice and disposable at that price

hope that helps

Go for the £2 option and keep it on your jacket, do you really need to take it off it? Buy a few then when they`re really grubby bin it :thumb2

I bought some of the iron on hi vis tape & put a strip along the rear of my jacket. Handy stuff for rucksacs & waterproof gear that you dn`t really want or can`t stitch through! http://www.bikeseen.com/tapes.htm it`s about half way down on the right pictured on a radiator

Picked a few of these up at a car boot for a couple of quid (brand new)

Saw similar ones on sale in JJB sports for £3.99. Zipped front, long sleeve, strong lightweight material and easily fits over textile jacket. Dosn't soak up the rain much and easy to wash. Rolls up to less than the size of a coke can, or fold flat in a pocket.
