Agree with your point on the aux lights...I have the LED upgrade which certainly increases visibility without giving oncoming drivers a sun tan.
The Beemer also keeps dipped beam on with high beam - given the inherent delay with HID you wouldn't want it any other way! Its for that one reason (the delay) that I've removed the HID from my hi beam and spots.

how the hell does refitting a halogen main help? turn that on over an HID dip and it will make fuck all difference, rather like an HID dip while it warms up, which doesn't take more than a second or so, and it's only really an issue the first time it's used anyway![]()

The OEM main beam is made redundant with the FF50 spots I have fitted with or without HID. I have had standard and fast ballasts fitted and tried in all the combinations so I know the difference between the two and neither are fast enough for me. I can't be arsed to remember to keep turning them on (when I don't need them) so when I do need them they light up quickly. They don't hold their "charge" long enough. If its fast enough for you then that's just swell but they're not fast enough for me.

Hid main beam has a further reach than ff50s, but the ff50s have a better spread.
fair enough, each to his own, but i still don't understand your logic that nothing is better than slow.
Don't confuse distance with spread. The spread of the main beam has been an ongoing downfall off the GS. However, the pencil type beam still gives distance, just not a good spread. I use led spots because of their spread and they still give very good distance, but they still benefit from an hid main even though it is nothing more than a football sized blob right in front of the rider. I ride an 1150, which has a shite main beam, I doubt the 1200 could be worse. Only way to really tell is to test all set ups.Not on my 1200 - the OEM main beam is useless with or without HID. Dip beam with HID is fantastic though.
Yes, yes and thrice YES.
Actually, only twice as I've got 55watt dipped AND (fast bright) main beam.
Les Wassal is the man.

Here's a example of my led spots http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=fUTcCxoTvzQ&desktop_uri=/watch?v=fUTcCxoTvzQ
