Both my Pan and Bird have Hiss, which I believe was pretty std on most Hondas from about 2000:dunno:

Does anyone know if that includes Firestorms? As in a 52 plated one?

And if it has got hiss, should one of the warning lights under the rev counter have a dim flash about every 10seconds? Again a bit like the Pan and Bird have?

Reason I ask, my mates just popped round on one, first time I've seen it since he's bought it, and although the warning light flashes, there's no hiss, just a std barrel and std key:dunno: He's just confused by the flashing light.

I'm kind of guessing the hiss receiver and key fob might be glued together up inside the frame after maybe the lock was screwdrivered??

see this Honda press release reproduced on the Honda Owners Club website

The Firestorm gained HISS2 accreditation from 2002 onwards as long as an additional protective bracket was fitted.

I had a `99 CBR600FX and the HISS module was easily attacked as it was just stuck on the side of the barrel. It seems Honda sought Thatcham 2 approval and had to hide the unit to deter thieves tampering with it.

So, to probably answer your query, the HISS module is hidden behind some sort of cover as an added security measure.
