Hi all

I believe this link may be an official gov site in France that talks about the legislation for HiViz jackets and Warning Triangles
http://www2.securiteroutiere.gouv.fr/vos-infos/presse/communiques/2-2008/CP_14-04-08.html

Contains the sentence:
Les deux-roues motorisés, les véhicules à trois roues et quadricycles à moteur non carrossés ne sont pas soumis à cette obligation.

Which I believe is translates as motorcycles, trikes and quads are exempt from carrying the HiViz Jacket and Triangle.

Just posting it as it might be useful for riders to have at last seen something that looks official.

BTW like the way they define quads and trikes by the number of wheels and that they cannot have bodywork.

This has been covered many times. We don't carry hi-vis or triangles or spare wheels on bikes here, the requirements are for cars.

but it is worth saying again for infrequent tourers who come to France ;) :thumb2

might be worth noting that you might need a hi-viz jacket for other european countries

Hardly any other countries require hi-viz for bikes and this was covered on the BMW Club Yahoo group recently.

Some suggest it might be a good idea to have one, but none said it was a legal requirement.

I emailed the riders organisations in most countries in Europe and included Turkey. I have had a load of emails that came back. Still waiting for a few before I compile a list....
