more clues please.. garmin Nuvi what ? (need numbers )
waterproof holder most unlikely
mount and cradle .. depends on make/model of bike and model number of the Nuvi :augie

I tried to use a "car" sat nav on my bike in the dry. It was comlpetely useless. Couldn't hear the commands at anything above about 15mph, and the sun made the screen uninteligable. I gave up immediately.
I think your going to have to spend hard to get a decent bike system.
If you do get a solution though please let me know.
Good luck.;)

Whilst I concur on several levels that the Nuvi isn't ideal for bike use* RAM do a cradle to hold the thing, you'll need additional RAM hardware to complete the mounting solution, go to the home page of the above site and use the Motorcycle Mount Wizard and then contact GPSW and see if they stock or can obtain the parts you need.

* The Nuvi range only do A to B navigation, you can't upload MapSource routes and get the unit to follow a precise set of specified roads. This makes it useless/frustrating for recreational bike use.

* It's not waterproof which will mean having to tie a plastic bag over it or get an OtterBox.

* You'll need to make up your own power supply or rely on the internal batteries.

If you're serious about sat nav on a bike then I can pretty well guarantee that you'll be looking for a more suitable unit before too long. I made the same mistake trying to use a Garmin i3, this is now used by SWMBO in the car whilst I now have a Quest which was made for the job.

Hi Pablo, sorry to say but I've been up and down the waterproofing the Nuvi 300 route for months now and to no avail, just can't seem to get any waterproofing system that is effective enough for our very trying weather. Although I find the Nuvi 300 an excellent and compact piece of kit does not seem practical for the bike, also as someone has previously said powering it on the bike appeared to create it's own set of problems.

So what did I do? Encourage the wife to buy me a new system for my birthday, that's what I did. Took delivery of my new Zumo 550, seems the dogs numpties and spent all day yesterday playing with it, hard wiring it into the bike and downloading Whattons exhaustive supply of waypoints from this GPS section. You get all the kit you need for bike and car wiring in the box and bought on e-bay from those very nice people at Pentagon GPS for £415.00 delivered to Northern Ireland in three days.

Seemed the only way but good luck anyway.

Depending upon the all important model number of this Nuvi, there's in fact three cradle possibilities, hence my previous post, either RAM-HOL-GA21, RAM-HOL-GA22 or RAM-HOL-GA23 then add the mount as previous post suggested.

I for one will not be surprised if a waterproof Nuvi is announced :augie

Yes, sorry, Steve. Did mean to mention that he should check model and use the Mount Wizard to get the part No, was only providing the link to show that they/you do a mount.

So are you saying that a waterproof Nuvi is in development :nenau Will it be capable of accepting routes from MapSource?... Hang on isn't that a Zumo by any other name :nenau

I've just realised that the Nuvi has a flip up antenna. This might make fitting it into an OtterBox a problem.

many thanks for your taking the time to reply. I have decided not to pursue the idea further on your advice. See if Birthday and Christmas can help:)
