Honda DN01

Obviously you've never ridden one.

And you'd better tell BMW they're wasting millions developing a big scoot type of bike.

Spot on , I haven't ridden one but it still remains pointless- not the concept, just this particular bike/scoot/thing. Honda had no idea who it was aimed at and so it became an exercise to see what type of person would buy. Not many was the overwhelming answer! :thumb

No storage capacity.
No weather protection.
Claims of poor rider seating - feet forward,h/bar to close to upper torso resulting in body leant back. If they supplied a broom to prop up the spine for support they may have been half way there.

It can't do anything a Burger can't do except make people go ' oooooh.... look at that!'

I followed one up the Stelvio Pass last year and the asthmatic slug was more than an inconvenient mobile road block for my asthmatic '97 F650 whilst we were two-up and fully loaded!

I think BMW will be doing something a little more user friendly, don't you?

If nothing changes, they stay the same. And your comments could very well be about the first GS, back in 1980. Look how long the GS took to reach a wider audience.

My neighbour has owned one for 3 years. He uses it all year round, and says it's comfortable, and nippy and relaxing to ride.

Now, who's opinion do i place any relevence on.
Someone who's owned and lived with one over a long period, or someone who's seen one.

I've been stuck behind and held up many time behind a GS while on older/smaller bikes. What does that prove ?? The rider is riding at the speed he wants, rather than the person behind him. :D

If I knew how to split the post up like you have I would, but as I don't I won't, I mean can't! :blast

BMW continued production of the GS , Honda ceased theirs. I think people are cruel using the term 'lemon' to describe a certain Moto Guzzi when there is a bike far more deserving of the title! :D

I would take notice of your neighbour, after all, you know him! A work colleague , Chris his name, reckons I'm the incarnation of a certain Mr :ronno but I am guessing that my DNA would suggest otherwise. However, I'm in a bit of a quandry as to where the truth lies because I don't know much about my DNA or science in general or even how to get a sample of Mr Hitlers DNA, but I do know Chris and have known him for 3yrs. He must be telling the truth , surely? :nenau

On your final point I've decided to buy that one. :thumb2

Buy yourself a Honda Slimline , you know it makes sense. :comfort

Had a CBR600FH when they first came out but strangely despite only being 19 I always hankered after their PC800 for some reason too....

I loved the DN01 when I saw it at the NEC ...money no object i'd have one in the garage over a T Max for sure...alongside a Honda Rune over a V Rod....does this make me some kind of biking pervert:nenau

I like it when Honda go fuck it were gonna make what we want, how we want, because we can.....NR750.......Honda NSX ...two more to put in the dream garage.:thumb

I loved the look of the DN-01 when it was launched but the price was ridiculous. Unsurprisingly they were slow to shift but then Honda threw some dealer support money at them so I couldn't say no at the price I got mine for.

I only used it for commuting but a taller screen significantly improved it and I don't recall lack of weather protection being an issue. The foot boards touch down easily but that's no surprise. It was pretty slow (perhaps unfair as I also had a Fireblade) and quite heavy on fuel, probably as I was wringing it's neck all the time. Build quality was good and I never tired of the looks or metallic purple colour.

I sold it after nine months or so and lost about £500.
