Surly it's just like a DCT with a gear change lever and and clutch if you want it. seems a bit better than the DCT option but why have both DCT and a E clutch, why not one or the other.

I think all the big brands will be looking at E Clutch or similar transmissions if they go the way of Kawasaki eg hybrid motors. The complexity of feeding in the motor / engine lends itself to autos eg look at virtually all hybrid cars.

The are different . DCT will shift much much faster , it’s literally seamless , and it can also run as an automatic which the E clutch can’t. As mentioned above the downside is the DCT adds more weight than the E clutch and whilst you can manually shift a DCT you have no option to manually manage the applied power with the clutch ( which you can on E clutch) , you can only use the throttle.
