HORIZONS UNLIMITED 7TH ANNUAL UK TRAVELLERS MEETING

Perfect! exactly that. keep spreading that word and the HU meet will remain amature, small, friendly and not to be missed.

Maybe you're right I'll never do a RTW, but then again maybe I will.

For my part I'm just biting off chunks of the world as and when I can and you may be surprised just how far afield us wannabes can get!!

You right.
This was a very good meet with very friendly people.
I have been to BM meets and meet some right w-----s that stick in their little groups.
Everyone at the HU meet had time for a chat.
Maybe it's best not to tell to many other's ... otherwise the HU event will end up being full of Tossers

HU meet was a brilliant do to attend, seems like the key boy kids re out to take the piss. All the people there were all so friendly, vast aray of all bikes.Got to admit Ted Simons talk & photo,s last do on sat nite was brill, hope it fulfills over hopefuls to tour the world.:clap

Was a brilliant meeting.

Ill be at the one in Portugal if anyone fancies buying me a beer :)

A truly unique weekend.

People have talked about the various talks and events. And they were inspiring. But the abiding memory was the friendliness and general good vibes from everyone. That extended from everyone, the organisers, those giving talks and everyone attending. The most fascinating talks were impromptu sitting around any table or round the fire with a beer talking bikes and travel. And then realizing that involved in the conversations were Dan (Walsh) Peter (Henshaw) Kevin and Julia (Sanders) etc etc as well as many other really facinating and NORMAL people.

My abiding memory is of a weekend that captured the true spirit of biking/travelling and renewed my faith in people. To those who organized the event Thank you. And to the many people that I met (and sadly have no contact addresses) thank you for genuine friendship. And to a few people I kept meeting and would have really liked to have chatted further... that was my loss. And YES I hope to meet those same people next year...and y'know what... I think i will.

Is this post OTT ? No I don't think so. I expect that most of those who attended would agree. But I totally agree with a previous tosser who intimated..........

It was a terrible weekend with a lot of egotistic prima donnas strutting their stuff and preaching to the wannabees. Wouldn't recommend it to real bikers and , unless you are one of those sad dreamers who understand, stay away and let them live on in that dreamworld which considers bikes as a means rather than an end.

And to the dreamers..C U either on the road or next year.

I'm off on Monday to Europe with my son.....landfall ...Cherbourg
and then...well no idea...want to recapture that feeling of "follow the dream" no plans ..just want to live the dream..if only for a while.

Read this thread with interest Liam, as someone I met recently once said here this site is not only about bikes/GSs but about people.

I really wish you and your son all the best as you head of for a month or more to Croatia and beyond. I know you and your spirit and many here if they knew you as I do would know that in such folks lies much of the 'true spirit' of real biking which some here can perhaps sadly only aspire to.

To one I know, who is a true biker, as opposed to a motorcyclist enjoy your dream my friend :thumb

Zum Wohl, ... Deano
