Horns from Nippy Normans

They appear to have stopped selling Stebel horns

Just the Fiamm brand appear to be on their site now.

Anyone fitted one to a 1200?

I bought a stebel from him last year and it was crap. The body was plastic and it was broken in two. He never did reply to my e mails to sort it.

I've got 2 Fiamms fitted to my 12Gs and they are very loud - and reliable too.....Don't hesitate to fit them.

Believing his hype I bought a pair of Stebel Magnums from him some time ago, absolute shite, with flimsy plastic covers. A pair of Fiamm horns from Sherlocks is about £28, they are louder, cheaper than Magnums and much more robust.

It is very loud indeed, comes with a relay,wire and terminals and was an easy fit to my 1150GS. I can't fault it. Beware there are nasty quality Chinese copies about.

Hi, I bought a Fiamm Mini Blaster earlier this year from NN for my 12GSA, also bought the connecting cable. Fitting time - 15 minutes, if that, most of which was spent bending the bracket so that the horn cleared the forks on lock. I've always had good service from NN, items arrive on time and well packed - can't always say that about other BMW 'specialists' I've tried. No connection - just a satisfied customer. Alan

The problem here is likely manufacturing faults - I bought the current Magnum from NN 9 years ago and it has been faultless until the last couple of weeks ... and living and commuting on it in Lahndan it got a lot of use

Given the positives i may try the Fiamm this time

Bought a Magnum from Norman a couple of years back... It was crap...no louder than standard

Returned it and got a full refund... Maybe stebel are cutting corners ... Still happy with Nippy Norman's service though

Interesting. The Magnum I got was much, much louder than oem - maybe the oem's have got louder over the years???

Time to try Fiamm methinks

Halfords used to sell the Stebel Nautilus. I don't know if they still do.
I've had two of them and although they were fantastically loud, they didn't last very long before they stopped working.

Why is it that a hulking big bike like a GS has such a piddling weedy horn. BMW - sort it out!


Had a Stebel Nautilus from NN's on my last two GS's and they were great. I've also just bought another (not from NN) to go on my new GSA.

Fiam blaster on mine from nippys it's a fair size but I managed to fit it where
I think the abs unit should of been on top of the engine accessed by taking the Air intake pipe off . Really good sound well chuffed . Gav

A good place on a GSA for a decent horn has to be in the spare bottle space under petrol tank.

+1 That's where I located mine, it's also a Stebel wasn't the big one but works enough to make the sheep shift and to waken the occasional dozy local.
