should a picture be?

I got round to posting a couple of pictures on the board, but what is the ideal size for a picture. (Not byte size) pixel size.

Cos they looked ok on my lap top but on a large screen they are too big and it is to late for me to edit the thread.

I'd say 800x600 / medium quality is about the optimum size for posting here.
