I will be unable to ride my GSA for about two and a half weeks and am worried that the battery will go flat during that time?

I dont have an optimate or anything (yet) and dont want to come back to a dead bike. The bike is a month old.

Anyone have any ideas what I could do? Can I just discontect the battery terminals so its not using any power?

Sorry if its not a very technical question, should have been in the virtual bollox section maybe?

If your battery goes flat after 2 1/5 weeks it's a crap battery ;)

The GSA gel battery is pretty good.......Mine's still original and just under 3 yrs old, yet it started my GSA after a month the other day.

The bike lives outside with no optimate as well.

thanks for the responses, :thumb

will have to find something else to worry about now!

fanum's right. if your battery goes flat after a couple of weeks you have a problem.

putting it on an optimate might hide it until it leaves you stranded.

a poor alarm could run the battery down, an optimate might be needed in that case. bmw's OEM unit shuts down after 7 days to stop drain.

I must say the thought crossed my mind for about 2secs last night! I was wondering how big your garage was! Then I thought about the amount of worrying I would do whilst it was at your place and thought I may as well risk a flat battery. ;)

sorry mate.

Doh....But does he have it a month or is it a month old second hand bike ??? I suppose the solution to the problem is to buy an 1150 or an 1150 Adventure. The battery holds its charge in the 1150 because there aint some bloody microprocessor eating the power.
