How do I copy from iphone 4 to new computer?

Plugged iphone into my new computer for the first time and had planned to update to new ios.
Music, apps etc on my iphone but before I upgrade I need to make sure all data from iphone is on itunes...how do I do this as itunes isn't showing whats on iphone

I think it goes something like this I done it myself some time ago. Connect up the iPhone and download iTunes and when you get the homescreen you click the tab to autourise this computer. I might be off a bit but thats roughly it hope it helps JJH

Unless you've got a 64 GB & the memory is full. Even then it shouldnt take that long.

appears to be an issue with itunes on my desktop - managed to backup ok on wife's laptop so may start ios5 later
