How do I do one of them fancy posts?

I have searched every combination of words I can come up with to no avail:

I wish to do a ride report from my recent tour round Belgium, but can not for the bleedin life of me get it right! I want to be able to write a bit of narrative, then insert a pic. I have the pics on my laptop, also stored remotely at photobucket.
I've sepnt two evenings piss-arsing about and am at my wits end.

Do I have to use the code (IMG) or do I click on a link or shortcut somewhere?

I tried a test on the test forum after clicking (insert link) , selected the link to my pic, and feck all happened

You can either use the

tags (note the square brackets) or click on the

(Insert Image) icon above and then paste in the URL of your hosted pic, ie the link to the Photobucket location.
