I've got my music on my old ipod.
I can see the music I want on the playlists when I go onto itunes.
I've tried to transfer the music to my iphone 4 but I can't seem to get it to work :blast

How do I do it...idiots guide please

Or

If you're phone isn't set to sync automatically, right click on the songs you want to transfer, you can select multiples by holding down the alt key, right clicking as you go along. They'll highlight in dark blue, then just left click and drag them over to your iPhone which should be highlighted in the left column. Drop them in there and they'll go onto your phone. You can drag drop any playlists that you may have also.

also

depending on how it's setup it might not sync the music automatically. Connect your phone via the usb lead then once its recognised in itunes click on the phone icon (i.e. Marks iphone) in the left hand column (devices). This will open a separate window where you can select what options you would like to sync. On the summary page near the bottom is an option to convert higher bit-rate songs to 128kbps AAC. Put a tick in this box (this will allow you store more music). Then click on the music tab which is near the top in the middle and select whether you want all your music or just selected albums, then re-sync.

Thanks for the replies :thumb2
I've managed to get some of the tunes on but still trying to get rest on - not all the playlists appear to be on itunes

As already noted you select your phone on left of iTunes under devices, then select music on top edge of screen. You will now have a screen which lists all playlists, artists and albums. Just select what you want and sync. I can't see why you should be able to sync some playlists and not others.

I sync to an Ipod Classic, Ipod Nano, Ipad and iPhone 4. As with most things Apple everything works perfectly and the system remembers what is synced to what device.

I have started using a program called 'Copytoy' from Candysoft.com which allows me to move my music around between different i-tunes accounts, i-phones, i-pods and other media without the restrctons imposed by Apple.
