I just ordered a TomTom XL IQ and want to use it on the bike also. Anyone of you know what the best way to do this is. I was thinking of mounting it on the crossbar somehow.

If going the RAM way, which bits do I need?

First check, with TomTom what is the crossover model of XL IQ in the USA (its a minefield on product marketing/branding - even I'm confused) if its the new RAM-HOL-TO8 then consider simple u-bolt mount RAM-B-149Z or 149ZA mount.

I bought this:

which seems to be a TOMTOM XL340S in the USA and seems to be fitted to the following Ram cradle: RAM-HOL-TO8U

I might go aquabox or similar way though.

The letter U on the code means poly bag packing, thats all, worth a look at similar subject thread

Is there a RAM part that replaces one of the bolts holding the steering in place?

As it looks now I will going the RAM arm + arkon case direction as being the most budget option. The aquabox seems expensive. In combination with the RAM arm I will have some degree of flexability in position of the GPS.
