How do you clean yours....

I'm a bit wierd... but I actually like cleaning my bike... I like anything and everything about bikes and see cleaning it as a form of inspection.

I ride in all weathers but for me that just means extreme heat, and exterme heat with extreme rain.

My cleaning ragime is spray from a hose (not high pressure), bucket and sponge with any cheap car wash liquid, hose off the bubbles and wipe with old t'shirt/rag.. then wipe down with clean rag. Done.

I don't use wax or polish, or chrome cleaner accept maybe once a year if I'm really feeling like spoiling here, GS hasn't had the yet in 10 moths of ownership. Bike always looks good.

Anybody want to bring there bike to KL and I'll clean that too and give you a bacon sarny and coffe.

YOU DON'T USE WAX OR POLISH !...ffs you live in Malaysia! You don't have the UK winters where local authorities cover our roads with salt and grit!

Try living in the UK for a couple if seasons if you haven't and lets see how much, Wax, ACF50, polish and other protective sprays and the like you use and buy....really..." I dont use any polish"... I don't know-you don't know how lucky you are ...

Ride safe...

MER

Try some MER cleaner, its german (I think) not cheap, comes in a blue squarish bottle with a gold lid ? but goes a long way, best on the market IMHO. comes up like new and protects !!:thumb2

I've used that for cars and it is good but you have to polish it off otherwie it streaks I've found......

Spray with cold water, use diluted muc off and wash down with normal wash solution. Leather down and dry and then use Wd 40 underneath etc, sorted :)

I agree with the Direktor. I never ever wash a bike during a trip (unless needed by quarantine at borders). When things are working nicely I dont need the ingress of water somewhere to spoil the day. Dont get me wrong a clean bike is a happy bike and mine is normally spotless. I am very dubious about high tech cleaners which boast time saving as a virtue. There is no susbstitute for elbow grease and attention to detail.

I you use a mechanic they will will like you too and are more likely to go the extra yard to doa good job.
