Stripped a tooth or two on the ring gear (2003 1150gs), I gather it is a complete back end of bike removal to get to do it, but is it possible to sort it at home or is it a professional job? If so, is it going to be pricey?

The galling thing is that this exact same fault was fixed under warranty about a year ago (just before it run out) and it is done it again - Is this a weak point on BMWs?

never done the job, but the manual shows the flywheel and starter ring as one unit, as does the parts list - called clutch housing, part no 21217666246, check here:

however, you're right about the back end of the bike coming off, you will prolly need a bit of help to lift gearbox/final drive unit off
