How fab is the single cam 1200

This morning I did 30 miles each way across deepest Dartmoor (Newton Abbot to Okehampton and back)
This Afternoon I did Newton Abbot to Bournemouth & back via Dorchester. 100 miles each way on roads clogged by tourists who can't see beyond the car in front and never (EVER) go faster than 40.
I was Da Maan at filtering and overtaking. AND kept the right side of every solid white line.
Could any other bike have done that without killing me?

Ferry to Cherbourg at the end of the month to spend 5 days exploring north western France with herself on the back. I couldn't think of a better bike to do it on!

I rode through 15 countries in 2 weeks covering 4.233 miles arriving home last weekend. Got as far as the transfagarasen highway in Romania. On my own with tent on the back. Was Definately a trip I wouldn't want to do on another bike.

Newton Abbot across Dartmoor to Okehampton at 6:30 am door to door 35 minutes (30 miles). It's an A road but in places is only single track.

Return at 1pm was an hour largely because the single track sections were jammed. Teign Valley is longer route but a nicer road TBH.

3pm to 5:30 Newton to Bournemouth A30 A35 etc. Clogged (VERY clogged) with traffic jams. 100 miles. Bought a car and back home by 9 pm. I'll be doing it again (with pillion) to collect the car. The bike slices the jams handles bends like a race rep and more than fast enough to keep any speed freak happy.

Today no ill effect which I really wasn't expecting. I'm far off being long ride fit I mean time in the saddle.

I'm impressed that you did that trip solo - I certainly couldn't do that length of trip on my own, I like company too much!!

I've had my single cam for 7 years now and it's been a great bike......it'll be even better when Mikey re-builds the FD next month

However......I really enjoyed my test ride weekend on the WC and if I had some spare dough would def go for a WC.....

I'm taking off for a week mid September down to the Pyrenees. Two days down from Roskof, four nights based in Broto and then two days back up to Cherbourg and home on the ferry to Rosslare. On my own with my camera, bliss.
Cheap holiday and empty roads. Owner of the hotel I'm staying in has a GS, gives an extra 5% discount if you're on a bike and has a garage for the bike, too. Believe he used to desert race BMW's.
Bendy's right, there's not many other bikes as suited. Even if mine is only a TC.

My day wasn't especially long distance but a total of about 7 hours riding on everything except dirt tracks was what's so impressive. I had deadlines so wasn't hanging about. Its a big bike and should have struggled with all the filtering but it was fine with everything. The morning run across Dartmoor was stunning. Today I'm not falling apart at the seams.

It's not a single cam, but my TC is the only bike I've owned that's "ride all day" without feeling tired at the end, and having enjoyed every minute. I'm obviously missing out with my inferior bike but I think I'll stick with it. ��

John, would you mind sending on the details of the hotel please. I'm having a bimble around northern France at the end of the month but my next trip will be heading south. The secure parking and bike friendly hotel sounds very alluring.
