For my first mod I'm gonna fit a Y piece, although I understand there is some choice out there.

I've worked out that there are: (so far)

Remus
Arrow
Laser
Two Brothers
Sebring

Whos' got what fitted?
Build quality issues? (does the fecker line up)

I Just wanna fit a goodun and not run into problems later.
I'll keep the OE can for now.

I'd also be interested to see if any of them reduce the backfire syndrome produced by the Remus.

I've had a y piece in the past and it drove me mad after a while and I don't believe it has anything to do with how well the y piece is fitted and the seal you get. Mine was absolutely water tight no air could possibly get in or out and it still poped and banged on the over run.

I've got the Remus "Y" with standard can (used to have a Remus, but it didn't fit with my older-style Jesse boxes).

The Remus is good build quality, and everything lines up fine.

I've had 2 remus y's - neither fitted properly in that they didn't go far enough over the downpipes to cover the tightening 'slits' - making an airtight seal impossible.

I have the Bos system, y-piece, end can and chip. Similar noise to the Remus but no back firing at all. I didn't fit it, the dealer did, nice people they are as well. :bow

The center stand lug is much better as well IMHO as it's a solid bit of metal not the sprung bit that Remus use, and which eventually allows the center stand to bash the paralever arm  .

I like it so much that it's getting transferred from the 1150R onto the GSA I'm picking up at the end of the month.

Got a Carbon Can Co stainless y-piece and rainbow titanium can with a baffle in to supposedly conform with BSAU (the can is stamped as such)- build quality OK and easy to fit. The exhaust isnt that hot either so will probably not melt panniers- it does tuck in a fair way as well. The can probably wont fit with the standard cat and the y-piece wont fit with the standard can though- you only have the full system or not at all.

Made a big difference out of the box with the yellow cat code plug, but since gone the Steptoe mod route and the difference is amazing. Hit 4.5k revs and the thing just takes off- thats even with a hippo and the mrs riding it. It did pop and bang a little bit but only every now and again after the steptoe mod- mostly when I am on constant throttle and open and close it a bit quick.

It may say it conforms with BSAU but to me it is very loud- sounds like a spitfire. I like to hear bikes coming though- it is only really offensive if you crack open the throttle hard.

Best thing though- the price. Managed to get the y-piece and can for £220 brand new at the NEC last november. A remus y-peice alone is £160.......

I have a Remus.

Fitted faultlessly, never so much as a pop out of it, top quality.

Couldn't be better.

Scorpion one on mine mate........better quality in my opinion than Remus and nicer people to deal with.... :thumb

Could be, if the centre stand didn't bash the paralever eventually because the stop bends over time. IMHO of course.

Do Scorpion do Y pieces then?
Just had a look on their website and couldn't spot anything

These Bos systems appear good though.

They certainly do mate.

They even helped me fit a techlusion unit that sorted out my lean spot after fitting their Y Piece and end can.

I found them to be realy helpfull and good to deal with. They even replaced my end can free of charge after 12 months `cos i dented it trying to fit it without the proper spacer.

Cheers..............BB.......... :thumb

you dont have a y piece, you have a collector box minus the cat....

Made from the finest stainless you can get, no need to chip, just fit and ride built in Australia they are the dogs.......

not only that you dont get the backfiring you do with the other makes......

Have i sold you it yet....... i have one sat in my garage, only 6 months old and cost me £600 quid imaculate, can and collector box.

It's not the heat from the can it's the heat from the gas, as the cat has gone and it is a lot hotter, I know :(

All fixed now though :D

Not tried it yet with panniers, but have noticed there is a slight mark at the top left hand corner of the reg plate, no burning but a bit of carbon and warmth, but nothing that looks like worrying about. There isnt any marks on the indicator so it seems it is at the right angle to avoid anything.

Time will tell when I put the panniers on it- will keep a close eye on it though.

John, looking at putting the same set up on my 1150 GSA. I have stock aluminium panniers fitted most of the time.Do you know if this will cause any problems with the fit or with heat transfer?
