I'm off to the Dolomites this summer two up camping and wondered how much weight I can pack on the back rack (with panniers and no top box). At the moment I've got a 100ltr dry bag with a double self inflate mattress, two small folding chairs and double sleeping bag. This weighs in at 10.5kgs. The tent's going on top of the bag (another 5kgs) I know the payload states 217kgs but I've seen bikes with what looks like far more than that. This is my first time camping with the missus on the back, I'm 85kgs and thankfully she's only 44kgs. :clap So, is 15.5kgs too much on the rear rack?

i always found the tech blurb that BWM give for the BWM ally box + rear rack 5kg in the box :thumb2

happy to weigh my box if needed
Wow, that was quick! Yeah I've seen the stickers but I've had 4 x 3ltr boxes of wine on the back and done 300mls with no probs a couple of times. I'm sure BMW air on the side of caution. :nenau

Worth remembering to turn up the preload on the shocks but also to increase the rebound on the rear (front not adjustable if std)

I think the book says 15kg if the top box is not used

The problem is the alloy seat base / frame on the adventure it can fracture but I think the adventure luggage system offers some support

I'd keep the weight well displaced and maybe use the pannier lids as stowage too
