With so much interest in the reliability threads for the 1200, thought i'd start a poll specifically to see how the users of this forum have found theirs.... and as a result, if they'd still buy another one or not?

hopefully people will only vote based on their experience with the bikes they own, and not vote on hearsay, others experiences etc... lets try and have this reflect what our own machines reliability has been?

Please select all options that apply to you, based on your experiences from 1 to 4, and ONLY choose 5 OR 6 please....

Let the fun... begin..... :D

What, Again?????

You 12 owners do like your sackcloth and ashes don't you.....why don't you all stop moaning about the faults on your bikes, or at least stop bringing them to the whole world's atention every single flippin day and just go and ride the bleedin things!!!

Do you all sit there whipping yourselves with birch twigs as well???

:P

Please no more reliability polls!!!! :shoot:

Maybe we can get the opinion of tricolourforever....he could let us know how reliable they are.

For the record, mine 1200 has done 300,000 miles, has never drunk 1ml of oil, never broken down, does 100,000 mpg (never filled it up yet), has 1,000,000 service intervals, is under warrenty for 20yrs and is machined from solid titanium.

Stella sweetheart, we all need something to bitch about it just so happens to be the GS here. If we want to know how good the GS is we can read the BMW adverts.
Come on lighten up I enjoy a good trashing, sometimes across my GS.
:goof

Love the bike, apart from one niggle which was sorted after a week but very disappointed in BMW/dealer.

So probably won't buy again sadly but because of BMW attitude to customer service.

Poll closed at Stu's request as it doesn't allow more than one vote per person......

Apart from having to have the Instrument panel replaced (Sticky operation on the way back from Portugal) and the gear indication switch replaced (Ditto) no other faults.

Fairly worrying faults you may, quite rightly, say however CW were typically efficient and helpful so nowhere near as bad as it could have been.

Would I buy another? Because of the prompt dealer service and the fact that the bike is b****y brilliant to ride YES!!

Apart from the:

Foot Brake switch replaced (left with Residual Braking)
Light switch replaced (No High Beam)
Parking bulb replaced
Squealing Brakes (Sounds like a truck stopping)
Fuel level sensor replaced (Low fuel after only 90 miles)
Surface finish on the final drive crazing (probably overheating)
Final drive currently being replaced (6mm play in back wheel)

I am very pleased with the bike and would buy another, in fact I may have to if this one continues to let me down! (-:
