had a test ride on a 2011 gsa earlier this wee and was a bit disappointed that the bike felt very rough especially when accelerating ,having tried a new w/c gs a few months ago which felt a lot better has me wondering if a gs is for me

The lc is a bit smoother than the TC which is a bit smoother than the original Hexhead. None of them are smooth though but that is thought of as character. Whether it is for you or not, only you can decide. Don't get blinkered though as there are other options out there.

I'd put that the other way round. My '04, '07 and '09 bikes were smoother than my '11 Twin Cam, especially at 4-4,500 rpm. So much so that I was planning on having the Twin Cam remapped before I bought my WC.

I know where you are coming from and it depends on what your talking about. To me the older boxers had vibration but the newer they get they get buzzier. That probably doesn't make sense to anybody but me lol. All boxers have a thump vibration but as they get newer and the compression/revs goes up they start to buzz more. Kinda like a 4 doesn't thump but it does buzz. The frequency is different.
I am looking for a change of bike right now and although I don't know what I am going to get I can say after a shot it isn't going to be a WC.

It took me two test rides some time apart before I was smitten. :nenau

I don't think it would make any odds having another test to be honest. I was underwhelmed in a big way by the wc. It is an improvement over my 09 in just about every area but not as much as I felt it should be.

thanks for the quick reply's
w/c out of my price range might have another test ride later this week will have to decide if I buy one or look for something else .

Some are better than others. My mate's GSA is uncomfortable at around 4500 rpm but my GS is not too bad, and is much better since being Hilltopped. IMHO a good TC is a nicer bike and easier to live with long term than a WC, but that's only my opinion.

My TC makes as much Hp as a stock wc bike and has more torque then one since a visit to hilltop, I never had issues with vibes and it's really smooth now with a nice consistent torque throughout the Rev range.

Something as simple as throttle balance or valve clearances can make a GS less smooth than usual, as can crap fuel.

Ha! All this talk about "smooth" this and "smoother" that........Trev, they don't know the meaning of the fekkin word, not in the Honda Blackbird sense anyrode. :aidan:comfort

hi tim is that you from the blackbird sites ,I know they wouldn't be like a four but this was really bad .

Yes, they are bad...really fekkin bad. But once you take ya 'Bird head off, they are fekkin grrrrreat. (Even if they rot quicker than a Suzuki thingamyjig )

An inline four with harmonic balancers will always be 100% smoother than any flat twin or Vee twin or even a balance shafted parallel twin.
If you want turbine smooth buy a K13, K16 or another Honda.
