Right, off to look at a bike soon, it's a 98 1100. Is there a give away as to whether it's got the later gearbox or not just by looking at it. Ie visual clues on the gearbox casing? Bloke isn't sure and I've not got the frame no yet. Gonna Hpi it shortly but i assume that'll only tell me when it was registered.
TIA

The early box had a green stamp on it marked 94L. There should be a date code casting on the box somewhere visible.

In my experience, the Late 1100 will be the one in the Box,with the Floral Tributes round it.

I just MIGHT be being obtuse for Comedic Effect !

Now Now :D

Well, after a fairly mental day yesterday I'm back on a GS :clap

Was off "sick":D on wednesdday and spotted a couple of bikes whilst recouperating.
Rang up about the 1100 which was in surrey and managed to get the guy to hold it for me. Booked a ticket on the national express and spent 6 hours on the damm thing yesterday followed by another hour getting out of London to the bike :(
Checked the bike over paid me money and rode 260 miles home.
got mesen a black 98 1100, 35k, full BM history. Well chuffed:D
Any one want to buy an Africa twin?
