How to stop Windows jingle playing at start-up?

Anyone know how to stop the Windows jingle playing at start-up?

Assume I have shutdown without clicking mute (after listening to radio).
If I restart, I get lifted out of it by the bloody silly jingle (W-2000)

I know the first answer, "Switch to a Mac"....

Anyone really have an answer?

Turn the speakers off

Start/Settings/Control Panel/Sounds (audio etc. etc.) and turn off the startup jingle

will take less taha a minute....

click Start
Click control panel
double click "sounds and audio devices
click the sounds tab
scroll thru the list of program events until you find Start windows
with that selected, click on the sounds dropdown below it and scroll all the way to the top and select None
Click OK
Job Done
