New convert here. Gone from Honda Hornet to 650GS at the weekend. Love it. One thing - when I go 40 or above I get this really loud howling noise. If I stretch up a little noise disappears. I think its the screen that's causing it. Has anyone else experienced it? What can I do about it please?

Ron, this would get a better response posted in the 650 Tech section. Do you want me to move it?

It could be. It really depends where the airflow is hitting you. If it clips the bottom of your helmet, that could happen. Try taking the screen off and see if it makes a difference.

Alternatively, it could be a sticking brake caliper (Usually the rear) or a wheel bearing.

BTW, check out Trevor George's http://www.f650.co.uk/forums.htm if you have not already.
Anyway welcome and enjoy. :bounce1 PB

Paul, its already in the 650 section - didn't you know ?

If you have the standard screen, it might be worth getting the Dakar one...

Thanks for your replies everybody. Looks like a tall screen is the preferred solution! E bay here I come.

You sussed me out. Top marks!

The angle, and therefore the hieght, of the screen can make a difference .
I fitted a secondhand Wunderlich Ergo screen to my GS , and while the protection was perfect there was too much wind noise.
The P.O. of the screen had supplied a couple of home made brackets which moved the bottom fixings forward 35mm or so, so I fitted them to see what difference they made .
Just perfect! - the wind noise was gone without any noticable reductio in protection.
The Ergo screen doesnt get much of a mention in other forums, but the extra width and hieght are a huge improvement over the high screen my bike previously had.
