Mr Indecisive is due to buy a mint, 800 mile HP2 mm on a 59 plate, with sat nav and other practicle accessories for what I consider to be a very fair price.

I currently have an 08 GSA as a mile muncher :blagblah

My question to any helpful bods, how much fun are these MM's and are they enough of a contrast to a GSA to justify owning both?

Don't want to make an expensive mistake!....

p.s. any price suggstions for such a rare beast would also be appreciated:thumb2

I own an HP2 Enduro alongside the GSA and I think they are great stablemates. For one thing alone, there is a significant weight difference - something like 70kg which is like the difference between having a pillion and not. And with the smaller 17" front wheel and the forward position it's much quicker steering.

For me, I also spend a bit of time in London - I'm much more comfortable parking the GSA there overnight because insurance will pay for another one and it'd be easy to find one. If I lost the HP, even if the insurance did pay enough out, it would be hard to find another one.

And the GSA is simply far better at those 500 mile days, although I have done long distance, 2 up days on the HP.

So, as I say - great stablemates!

On price... I'm really not sure with the MM, or even the Enduro as they seem to be turning in to collectable items with prices, in some cases being really quite high.

thats a start....

...really appreciate your thoughts and the weight saving must make a massive difference performance wise, I think I will take a punt.

Worst case scenario, it appears that they are quite sought after, so I might be able to move it on to a good home with out to much trouble.

Cheers,

Buy it,
You will regret not doing so a millisecond after someone else does.
I guarantee you will grin every time you open the garage door and see it, never mind throwing your leg over it. as far as the comparison to the GS ....... errrrr the engine looks the same....!:D don’t even try to compare the 2 I would say.

I have the HP2e and have owned nothing but GS’s since 1996, 7 in total. The HP2 E and MM are by far the most fun version of everything BMW has put the boxer motor in.
I have toured the Enduro for 3 weeks at a time doing 750 miles in a day... bla bla bla, but the point is the motor will do it with ease, as well as being a mental 175kg sports bike, supermoto, comuter, etc.
Oh and the best thing is when you stop for a brew at the local bike meet, nobody else has got one.....

So like I said go buy it now, if you don’t like it I’ll have it.:thumb

That's more like it!

Fantastic, that's what I wanted to hear, some positive stuff!

Chuffed that the MM's are rather rare, will sit nicely with the GHEZZI BRIAN SUPER TWIN 1100.....now THAT is rare!...:drool

Sounds like you max out the use of your's, always liked the HP2e but can never find a low milage, clean example.

Thanks for the feed back, it's all appreciated.

They're designed to be used and abused!

On the way back from France having done 2500 miles 2up over 7 days:

I really like the HP" MM. I had the HPE Enduro and my biggest ever biking mistake was to sell it (especially to the person I sold it to but I won't go down there). You wont be sorry and if you are in the fortunate position I wouldn't hesitate.

...up-date

..it seems I have my own spokesman-cheers Mr Nutty G-SER!:thumb...
...WELL in addition, thanks to those of you that replied to my thread and shared your thoughts regarding buying the MM.

A drive to Cumbria, (7 hours-yawwwn) an over nighter in the van, and an enthusiastic bimble on the way home! JOB DONE!

In brief, it was collected with 800 miles on the clock, loaded with sat-nav, spots, crash bars, pannier rails, tall screen with additional wind deflector, carbon hugger, spare panels, and a few other bits n pieces.:blagblah

Like most people, I have owned a fair few bikes. The majority of my riding involves are A and B roads, take in the views and scenery, or let the Devil horns sprout and zip along.:cool.....now clocked a mere 2.3k and steadily rising.

The MM is a brilliant bike, lowish geared, loads of torque, weighs next to nothing (compared to the GSA) and I don't get back ache, can bimble or hoon along and the bike loves everything I can throw at it. :JB

So thanks to the Mr Nutty for putting me in touch with a very nice man in Cumbria and to all you kind folks for helping me make a decision.

It REALLY was the best decision I have made for a long time!:clap:clap

p.s. Even a Sargent seat hasn't resolved the lower back ache I get on my 08 GSA. I would consider a part ex on a practical winter type bike. The cross country 'x' challenge looks fun but open to suggestions.

Thanks again.:thumb2
