HP2 or KTM

All I know is David Knight spanked Kirssi's arse in the King's Class.

If the HP2 is so fast, then howcome Sirssi could only manage second.

HP2 - the original, the most powerful, high quality, involves lot of handwork, the fastest, expensive (obviously)

Such high quality that in a recent UK bike test, the HP2 wouldn't start, the sidestand fell off and the mag placed it second last.

Such high quality that they stick on a £25 headlight from a £2000 commuter bike.

It's only "obviously" more expensive than the competition because BMW know that there are always those gullible enough to believe that a higher price must imply a premium product.

You decide which to choose.

I already have.

Don't you think it says it all, that in New Zealand, which should be the HP2's natural playground,a total of 7 HP2s were imported and 5 are still gathering dust in dealerships ?

Read the post more carefully next time. Yes, KTM did won two year's Kings Class, Knight This year, Sala last year. But they all got beaten by Kirssi in the real race day after - the Prologs, and in those 2 years they all got beaten even more badly on the 2nd Prolog run each year it's been the same. :)

That £25 headlight is a brilliant bit of kit,100mph night time blasts no bother at all.Unless there's something else it's meant to do of course

:D

So it's not a real race because the HP2 didn't win it !!!

I suppose the Dakar isn't real either,as KTM fill most of the top 10 there as well ?

Tsiklonaut

Hey dudes, just been reading the war of words between the educated and the inebriated and You have got to say Tsik dude has the facts. He is a bible on bmw and in particular hp2. Legend stuff.....Manny Fagot dude, you gotta get the info before engaging the Tsikman and the orange thing is cool but bmw and twins have done the hard yards....Cool though, as long as u ride eh

IMHO, both the 950 SE and the HP2 are great bikes....... and both BMW and KTM had and have, respectivelly, their fair share in the Dakar....when BMW ruled some during the 80'sand 90's and with KTM ruling this millenium's races. It's like comparing a Lamborghini and a Ferrari..... both are super.... both are sexy....but then again.... it's to each individual's preference on which purchasing decisions come from. When it comes to pedigree, BMW has a very superb lineage..... but KTM's victories on major events may dispute that so i guess a comparison will never end.... as one advantage of another will be overtaken by the latter.... or am i just simply talking gibberish again :o oh and Mr Tsik..... geez.... thats a very interesting bit on the Erzberg thing. Got the facts straight.... :beerjug:

KTM520's taking his Super E so i'll take my HP2. We can then sort this out once and for all. I'm putting my money on the HP2 :thumb

Bring it on! :thumb

Though seriously I think it will just highlight the gap in rider ability rather the gap in bike ability. :bow

I'm not looking forward to putting the super e through the bog though.

Yep, that's the main gap. It's approx 25% bike and 75% rider ratio symbiosis. The same as you can see fancy MV Agustas and Ducatis ridden by noobs get lapped by old farting 80s BMWs ridden by pros on Nurburg ring for example.

he lads - Cambrian rally

why not go the the Cambrian rally and get it on a record
there will be other KTM's and Bm's there

Hey Manny Fagnet

Why not export your SE to the mainland for the cambrian rally 21/22 Oct and we can have a shoot out , ( I am dragging mine over from paddy land )
I might even let you have a spin and you can see what you are missing
I have just got rid of my last KTM a 450 exc had a load others , i think they are great bikes and good build quality , but that top heavy feel just did not suit me
