Can anyone out there help?

Yesterday was brilliant - picked up my lad's restricted year 2000 Husky 610SM, had a 35 mile windy road bimble with me on my 1150 GSA doing some dad and lad bonding. Stopped off at Orwells Yam dealer in Ipswich for a cuppa and some retail therapy.

Then home - his bike was fine. Today, he got it going, rode it half a mile and the engine just died. Wouldn't start and had to push it home.

He's used to two strokes, so am wondering did he flood it? Use too much choke? The bike started OK initially and ran well yesterday, but could there still be a battery issue?

Any suggestions welcome as he is really hacked off having just spent £327 of his hard earnt (19 and in his first job) on an MOT, service and getting the bike restricted and dyno'd.

Cheers, Tallthinhack :tarka

hi m8 i hava husky 570 and some times they can be temperamental but i would check the spark and spark plug and fuel first ?

I've had 2 610's.

Both didn't like starting with the fuel tap in the on position.

I used to turn the fuel on for a minute, turn it off, and then start it.
That way they both started easily (one was the left kicker, so it was a b'stard if it didn't start).

I would also check that the card and all it's bits are tight. I rode my 610 to my brothers (40 miles) and by the time I got there the carb had started to disassemble itself

The left kicker was ace though, wheelied in third off the power. Unfortunately they strangled it on the electric start ones and I used to have to clutch it in second.

You really shouldn't need the choke once the bike is started, so quite possible that he's flooded it. If it does flood, turn fuel off and keep turning it over. after a minute, pop the fuel on for a few seconds, turn fuel off and try to restart :thumb
