some long road trips coming up and I think I need tunes if I'm to keep my sanity on the autoroutes. I have an Arai Rx7 (noisy in other words) and wanted to know what peoples experiences of autocom and the like setup with an IPOD, can you hear the damn thing at 90 or is it a waste of time?

Thanks in advance

I got autocom (I'm a gadget geek), but if you just want music then a pair of inear monitor, and an iPod will serve you well.

On the other hand if you want to have the option to pick up the phone, listen to the obnoxious voice from your gps, etc, etc, then autocom is the answer:P

I've had phone conversations at 140km/h (yes not the best thing to do) and have no problem listening to music no matter what, Autocom is the best thing out there (in my humble opnion).

I've never worn an Arai - but I have no problems at 90 with an iPod through my autocom into my Schuberth C2.

I use an autocomm and an Arai. No problems at all with an ipod plugged in at autoroute speed. Just make sure the helmet speakers are in the right way round. :augie

I just plugged my sony 'in the ear' phones directly into the Garmin. I got a 4gb SD card and loaded all my tunes onto it. Job done. tunes and sat nav in one. :thumb2

Pretty much what I do too, other than I have some in helmet speakers rather than the headphones as I like to wear proper earplugs as well.

Ipod shuffle through Starcom Advance into first an Arai Tour X and now a Shoei Multitech - both excellent at (up to and including) motorway speeds plus the benefit of sat nav, phone and bike to bike.

More flimsy than Autocom - I am on my third set of speakers / mics but they were replaced free by Starcom. As posted elsewhere here, Starcom does come with ridiculous lengths of wiring which needs to be tucked away behind farings.
