I ordered a new R1150GS ABS with crash bar, panniers, hand guards. Its one of the last ones of the standard model, Australia is getting its new "SE" model in the same shipment, due early December. Australia will then only have the Adventure and the SE as its model line up....no more standard GS's.
Now I have to go shopping for more accessories :D

New GS

Glad to see some other Australians on this loony bin site.

If you get out to Mount Isa, look me up, I'll try to show you some good GS places.

New "SE" model? Would that be the 1200? In December? Thought it was due for release March 04?

OK, no sweat on that, I know the area fairly well, out around Lake Julius, down Phosphate Hill, over to Earnest Henry Mine.
Did a lot of work up there....covered a lot of ground via 4 x 4.
:D

The....the standard GS in AU is no more, BUT they have released a new model to replace it. Its the R1150GS "SE" the differences from the standard one are:

Only available in Black
Adventure Fuel Tank
Adventure Screen
Black paint scheme engine/transmission
Hand Guards

This is a model which is for Australia only.
Its NOT the new 1200
My info came from BMW AU

Sounds like the old "let's get rid of some old stock by tarting it up, giving it a fancy name, and selling it to some gullible Australians.." ploy to me......... :D :D

I thought it was a plan to get rid of some excess Adventure production inventory, like fuel tanks etc. Possibly the indicator that even the new model Adventure (if there will be one) will not use any or much of existing parts inventory. OR its simply a way of getting the last out of the model series as a fill in before the new model.......that does not yet have a firm release date yet.

I would actually be very interested in a GS like this - It retains the features of the std GS - i.e. overdrive 6th gear - it doesn't have the low crawler gear of the ADV which I don't want, it doesn't have the ADV seat which I don't like, but it has the fuel tank & screen which are worth having.

C'mon BMW GB - get yer act together - yes I know you're reading this :D
