Phew! What a week, well 6 days actually.

LC arrived last Wednesday (delivered).
Ran it in last weekend in the Yorkshire Dales (620 miles)
Serviced Monday morning at Pidcocks (collected/returned by them)
Cadwell Park all yesterday with Performance Plus...Brilliant on the track!
This bike really is The Double Dogs Bollocks!

Today it is 1 week old, and is having a rest day....cos I'm at work! :augie

Question.....Tank bags?

I like the look of the proper GS bag that straps down, but am I better going with an SW Motech or similar that clips to a tank ring?
I have only ever used magnetic types in the past and I don't want another.

My have concerns are...
The BMW bag does look good, but is there a risk that the GS bag could scratch the tank, and is it a clat at the petrol station?...

Tank ring bags don't scratch the tank but the ring looks ugly when the bag is not fitted

Oh, and I will definitely need a map pocket.

What can you suggest

Glad you're enjoying the bike.:thumb I use the BMW small tank bag, and it doesn't scratch the tank, as it has a rubber coating on the bottom. It also has a map pocket, so it's a win win.:beerjug:

I was told the bags that use the ring, they can mark the tank when fitting the tank bag on and off and they don't follow the shape of the tank so sit higher ! I did find on my TC the stock bm bag was a hassle at stations due to the front clip and the zip.

I've gone for the TT bag and tbh it great the front is fitted with buckles and the fastener by the lower tank (seat) is Velcro and therefore is a doddle at petrol stations, underneath is lined with a foam membrane so does not mark the tank and the map pocket is velcro'd on so you can take off and hand it to the bods in kiosks to show your details wen checking in without the need to take your cloves off and p1ss around, however its £229 .

Happy new bike - Good luck with Pidcocks. two bikes bought from them (thought I'd give them another chance) and two poor experiences.

I use a Givi tank bag that clips to an adapter ring on the fuel filler. It doesn't touch the tank at all and clips on and off very easily. It doesn't look the best, but I'm very happy with it.

Hi Yes that was me, you were the big guy with the nice girl?

I'm still considering the offer to swop bikes, that black 1150 of yours sure was cute! :augie

Cadwell Park on a GS......ENVY.......it has to be one of the best bike tracks east of Donnington, fun and more fun.

I use the SW Motec and the bag does not touch the tank and looks like it it profiled for the GS .

I used the BMW bag on my trip to Spain and back. I was very useful. It only takes a couple of seconds to undo the clips and place it on the seat whilst refuelling. The under surface is rubberised so it shouldn't scratch the tank but I avoid placing it flat on the ground in case it picks up some grit.

As a bonus a touch screen will work through the map pocket cover so you can put an Ipad Mini or phone in there.

Hi Bails,
That looks a good fit, does it have a removable map pocket on the top? I can't quite see from the photo..nice bike!

Decisions! decisions! I'd like to stick with genuine beema kit, but the motech bag does look made to measure, however how do the two compare without the bags fitted? that tank locking ring isn't quite a thing of beauty is it?

Oh heck! I think I'm gonna have get down to the dealers for a good look.

No map poket but a phone pocket. This is a small bag that I had on my Ducati, the ring and bag fitted the GS very nicely . They do make larger bags. I have always had the BM bags but I prefer this set up as I ride with tankbag all the time. Does not mark the tank, very easy to remove for re fueling. SW also has set ups where you can have power to the ring and hence power to the bag for charging mobile phones etc. My bag is the engage, but the city has a similar profile and is larger.

I have the same motech bag and it comes with a map bag that attaches to the top with Velcro.
