Do you want a simpson bandit, super bandit, or whatever the others are called? Reason for asking is that the 'fit' is very different - I have a super bandit which fits well, the others didn't.

My experiences are:
- vision is very restricted (watch out doing lifesavers if you're used to a helmet with more 'vision'
- the visors don't seem to be 'hard coated' like others (Arai, etc.( and scratch very easily
- they are very noisy

Having said all that, I love mine - don't use it much, but grin when I do.

I like that Trev, it looks like what should have been the logical next version of a Roof Boxer and better than the the one Roof have actually brought out, if it was a flip front I would comsider it.

Don't want to piss on yer chips but they didn't used to be road legal.
Craft do a road legal bike specific helmet which looks almost identical. I had a Matt black RX which was comfy and very light as well as being quite a bit cheaper than a bandit. Linky linky

emm ..dont really know - just wanted the white helmet / black visor look

ta for the info. :thumb

any UK dealers?

I've got a Simpson Super Bandit and have had it for a few years. It's not street legal (but the later Simpsons are) and the lack of periferal vision is something you can easily overcome. The downside is it's not very quiet but it does look the dogs bollox :thumb2

Yowsa Yowsa, Been riding with Simpson Super Bandits since the first one came out (Bandit 1981...still have it, although lining is shot & two others over time....) & fat daddy covers all bases...:beerjug:

Blimey, up to £550 for something that looks as effective as an Everoak of about 25 years ago!

Just how much water do you reckon you could collect in the top of that visor!

Or this one? I thought helmet design had moved on from where the visor was just a bit of clear plastic screwed on!

Iv'e got a white Bandit , very old :rob

Always wanted the Preditor sprayed onto it , saw one at the Streetfighters Bike show and it had a 3d efect on the tenticle / dreedlock thingys :clap

Wonder what it would look like on a Tour X ........... :o

i ha a craft lid. nasty lining and cheaply made. the rubber stripwill come off if you ride every day. the simpson is the nuts though but too noisy and the visor can let a breeze in direct to the eyes. get the simpson shark if i were you. well nice

Trev,

What helmet size (snigger, snigger) are you? I have an old (but proper - white with black visor) Bandit that's surplus to requirements if you still want one. I need to warn you that despite having specific sizes (in inches) marked on them have very variable fits. I tried on three of the so-called same size before I found one that fitted.

As FBF mentioned, they aren't the quietest of lids and it's a real shock to the eyeballs the first time you go out and hit 100km/h, but a draft excluder strategically applied to the upper part of the visor solves this, and the dark visor is so dark, you can't see the draft excluder from the outside.

I originally bought mine when I lived in Holland and had a streefightered Kwak Z1R - the helmet goes well with this type of bike, although I switched to a Kraft when I had my Speed Triple. To be honest, the Kraft is a much better (and cheaper) helmet, even if it doesn't have the same street cred as a Simpson.

I've got the simpson RX8. Love the look of it, but as said before, the periferal vision is very limited. Bit of a problem with shoulder checks when riding a sports bike, but no problem with the riding position of a GS.
Here's my lad with it on:D

I've got the Speedway RX. Simpsons are the ultimate posey lid but the biggest fiscal rip off if you buy one at UK prices.
If you line up a 500 quid Arai, Shoei, Suomy and helmets of the same ilk and then look at the quality of the Simpson in comparison, you'll just see how poor the Simpson is.
I tried one on at Grand Pix Motorsports up in Chiswick and then got my mate to bring me mine back as hand luggage from that 'Merica' place.
Cost me £220 including black visor and pit bag.

I love the look & don't hear the noise as I always use ear plugs (used to run a Streetfighter with open V&H pipe so got used to wearing them).

I love the look but wear it less now that I have a better made and more protective lid (Suomy- Spec 1R.)

Still comes out on sunny days when I want to scare the locals.

Got away with using it on the odd track day as well, despite lack of safety markings.

Also have a craft as well. Bigger aperture and not as cool.
