Good syllabus? Good instructors?

I try to do some sort of training and/or track day each year and I'd say these guys have been the best. I have done 4 days with them now incl. Off Road and it's not their fault that I'm still no good. :) Tom runs the business and is sometimes helped out by Declan, who I believe put together much of the course structure initially. It's all very easy going, a good laugh and should be in a relatively small group. I fancy doing their track day on June 10 (3 Sisters) but the date isn't too good for me. Highly recommended- and I have no interest other than as a punter blah blah. I still can't really believe they got me doing skids, stoppies and riding hands free over pot holes without needing to change underwear.

+1 here for i2i....

did the off road jobby a few years ago now. brilliant confidence booster

Hands off jump and landing .... that gyroscopes got alot to answer for :)

Thanks all. I've done lots of training with Hopprider over the last few years which has been brilliant. Looks like this will be just as good.

Just completed their level 3 course.

I personally found the level 1 a bit tedious. You didn't get on to the bike until 11.30 after a 9.30 start. Not enough buike time to cement the learning into practice. To be fair, I'd done most of the work on this course before having done about six days of this kind of training with another organisation. Well suited to further training novices though.

Level 3 was far better, with really useful stuff on body position, braking on bends and better use of steering. Fully understanding the consequences of different braking patterns (front/rear, throttle on/throttle off) was a revelation.

Overall reccomended. Sponseored by Norfolk COunty Council and special thanks to Andy Wetherall for organising it. Top bloke!

Off Road Experience Course

I did the I2IMCA off road experience yesterday and had a lot of fun. They got you on the bikes more or less straight away after we were kitted up and got the H & S stuff out of the way. The day is broken into lots of small pieces to enable you to try and master the techniques shown. The team there are great fun, with an instructor Paul and the demonstrator Tom (or his brother Michael or Dominic).
The day went by with the instructor telling you what to do with a demo from Tom, followed by group one trying out the technique. Group two took the bikes from group one who had a de brief whilst group two were riding, followed by group three. You get to try out the KTM 250 & 400 EXC bikes.
Having not been off road since I was a kid, this course was not only educational but lots of fun. I learnt a whole lot and by the end of the day was tearing up their mile long motocross track. This included sliding the back wheel round corners, steep inclines and declines, tight bends and three different types of jump.
For £150 all in, the day is a worthwhile investment and I am now booking their level 2 & 3 off road skills day. All level of participants were catered for and all made significant progress. To me, its the best £150 I have ever spent on motorcycling :thumb

Did the skills for life package with the IAM a couple of years back. I found it very useful an informative. The defensive riding techniques learned have paid dividends many times since. I was weary before signing up thinking it would be old duffers riding so slow you could walk faster. Far from it. Progressive riding using the IPSGA (as used by Police riders) is very satisfying when you get it right.

Enjoy the course.

i2i Off Road Experience day

I did i2i's Off Road Experience day yesterday (20-3-11), really enjoyed it and found it very instructive and a great confidence booster.

It's aimed at novices for off roading but also to teach skills which are transferable to road riding. I was looking for some fun and something to help in those situations where you end up on dodgy surfaces up a farm track or on grassy fields being used as car parks etc or just generally distrusting the surface and grip. I have no intention of taking my GS off road to any extent.

However I found myself doing things on a bike I would never have dreamed I would be capable of in one day and generally enjoying having fun charging around a field in North Yorkshire for a very well organised and enjoyable day.

Just done the MC1 course today with Tom and i2i, very entertaining and instructive.

He'd be a good GS rider if he didn't need Steve to hold it up when he stops :augie
