I know that we nave quite a few on here with a much longer (and more senior) relationship with the IAM than me.

Do any of you know what the official position is in relation to NABB and blood biking. I need to have a better understanding of something as we go live in September.

PM if you like.

Tim

I am not quite sure what you are asking, nor why you seem not to have asked within the NABB.

As a member of the IAM and Freewheelers EVS I am not aware of any direct relationship between IAM and NABB, bar that some (most?) groups within NABB require riders to be over 25 and with a form of advanced riding qualification, usually IAM or ROSPA.

They are also likely to be able to give you contacts to pursue your earlier question of RT vs Pan with organisations that put them to the same use as you wish to. So that way you can get feedback on lots of things related to both bikes.

Of course, I may have missed the point by a country mile ...

I think Peter has summed it up really. As a BikeSafe provider & an IAM examiner I work with the local group to assist with rider training, & many of our local RoSPA & IAM group members are involved with the "Blood Bikes" but not a formal link-up, merely motorcyclists helping each other. Ring me in the office tomorrow if you think I can help 01242 247030.

Not missed the point, I was being a bit cryptic.

Essentially, my local group has a policy of not assisting us. Took a bit of finding out but alas this is the case.

I'm in contact with both NABB and Devon; the question was to gain some insight from the IAM side. I have since made an enquiry at IAM HQ.

I don't believe that the IAM would have a firm policy either way on this - it's more likely that it's a local decision made by your group committee - for whatever reason.

I don't know what your relation is with your local committee, but it would be worth making representations to them to get their support - moral or practical.

Good luck with your Blood Bike!

Would this be the same number to reach you to discuss IAM training? Been thinking about doing mine which would also allow me to help with the Glos bloodbike service
