I received this email today.
Dear Members,
S.W.A.M - Autumn Course.
I am writing to advise the S.W.A.M Membership of some difficulties which we are experiencing in being able to recruit sufficient Associates to justify running the Autumn Course and, to request your assistance in recruiting riders to undertake the Advanced Training. At the time of preparing this e.mail, there is very little interest being shown in the course despite the recent promotional efforts which have been undertaken by the Club Committee. If the situation does not improve then there will be little point in running the formal training and the course which is due to commence on the 4th October 2008 will be cancelled. If that is the case then it will be the first time in many years that the club will not be running a course.
With that in mind, I am writing to ask for your assistance in recruiting Associates to sign up to the Autumn Course. Please consider any of you friends, work colleagues or associates who you think would be suitable for advanced training and make efforts to pursuade them to commit to the Autumn course.
The course details, forms and the contact number for anyone wishing to sign up are all published on the SWAM Website. Please make every effort to approach riders to promote the course. This needs to be done as soon as possible as we are approaching the time when the committee will have to make a decision regarding whether or not to cancel.
My thanks in anticipation of your assistance in this matter

It really is a worthwhile course even if you don't want to or can't enjoy the social events, trips and weekly rideouts.
