Am I correct in thinking that if we're looking for accommodation for two couples each night at the beginning of July we'd probably be better off planning the trip and booking the accommodation before we go rather than playing it by ear when we got there?

I'd prefer to do the latter but we struggled to find accommodation some nights in New Zealand a few years ago when we were doing just that and I suspect (but don't know) that there is less accommodation available in Iceland than NZ.

Thanks.

I'm taking a tent there next week when i'm cycling and it's bollock freezing but at least there's no volcanoes this time........I always go at this time of year when it's quiet or later in the year in november when it's even more quiet and dark and cold:blast

Accomodation wise try some of the bigger hotels, i've never had a problem but july is high season up there, there's also Icelandic farm holidays which offer 'prebooked' accomodation around the island in some lovely locations.

Thanks FP. I'm definitely leaning towards the plan and pre-book option.

You may be in receipt of a PM shortly asking lots more questions...:augie.

Hope that's OK.
