So I've finally got to grips with my Dakar & so far, so good.
One question though, whats the idle speed supposed to be?
Mine nver seems to dip below 1500rpm (even when warm). Just seems a bit high.
Any thoughts or answers??
Thanks

Needs a fairly fast tick over ...

The exhaust camshaft has a bob weight on it to aid starting, in that the exhaust valve is held off its seat until the starter can crank it fast enough for the bob weight to fly out and let the exhaust valve seat ... compression, fires, starts, result :thumb

Bit like the old exhaust valve lifter of the old days big singles

Never ever twist or open the throttle while starting the engine ... cocks up the throttle position sensor and causes uneven and unreliable idling. While pressing the starter button don't even touch the throttle ;)

To re-position the throttle position sensor ... ignition on, open the throttle fully and then close, repeat three times. Switch off .... THEN start as above without touching the throttle :D

Great bikes :thumb
