Assuming that I get it back after buying it as a financial write off.
I don't think I'll bother with crash bars. I think the bike would maybe have been better off without them.(bars hit the petrol tank and crumpled enough to hit the riders footrest hanger. Perhaps if Steptoe makes them again, I would be better off with his Ally head guards. Far easier to do the valve clearances and alternator belt. I guess it all depends on the luck of the draw as to how fast one comes off?
The light mounting bar that I made will be modified. I was relieved that it didn't appear to do damage where it is mounted under the oil cooler. I made a Mk11 version (pretentious of me) that I gave to a mate. it bolted onto the bottom of the oil cooler, but was two separate pieces, the idea being that in the event of a topple, the cable ties that kept it aligned while being bolted up would snap and allow it to pivot, instead of possibly damaging the oil cooler, or mounting point. As it didn't damage mine, perhaps I'm over reacting.
probably won't bother replacing the pannier rack, rarely used the panniers anyway.
Despite not having a Touratech bit that stops the cast steering stop lugs from breaking, mine didn't break.
Hand guards stopped the lever from breaking.
I might replace the Hella spotlights with some LED that I have on my other bikes, they're physically smaller.(big deal
)
I'm very happy that my Dainese trousers had hip armour, God knows what my hip bruise would have looked like without it. Accident was on the 10th, hip bruise is still getting bigger every day. The groin bruise has virtually gone.
Same goes for my Hein Gericke jacket and the shoulder and elbow armour.
