Members of this forum have spent their hard earned cash on a great new BMW and if you don't like what they have to say about it, don't read it.
I and many others are, and just lately, on this subject and a few others, some on this site are really pissing me off with their negative and down right offensive comments. So if your not interested in hearing "how excited" someone is about their new bike, or "how good the headlight is at night", don't bother reading it and don't bother ruining a thread by telling us all that your not interested, or it boring, or........whatever. Just don't click on the thread in the first bloody place. Your attempts at explaining your comments, as humour are not appreciated by most I'm sure?
This site is great, but a few are really letting it down
I got to see the New GS on Sunday and what a great looking well made bike it is. Everyone I have spoken to who's rode it has loved it and if I had the money to buy right now, I'd be joining the lucky ones riding theirs.
Well said - another reason why I didn't bother to subscribe again !

That'll be the "Door on the Way Out"I'm getting nervous of posting in UKGSer. Can someone direct me to the Big Book of Forum Etiquette and Rules for the Faint of Heart?

My first post.
I recently had a test ride on the new water cooled beastie. It far exceeded my preconceptions. Compare and contrast with my 2010 GS follows.
I expected to notice the weight gain but curiously it felt lighter.
I know the power is up about 10%. So what I thought, who will notice the difference. Wrong again! It goes like the proverbial bat of hell through the rev range.
Also felt smoother. Is it smoother or is that my imagination? It is still a boxer twin but maybe the closer tolerances, or different balance mechanisms, or something, have downed the vibrations. Exhaust note is more civilised which probably helps. Whatever, it is a very awesome engine.
The MCN review a couple of weeks back was so glowing I was suspicious of a BMW backhander. However it did mumble something about some riders finding a “stability issue”. I failed to notice any such problem. I thought the handling was effortless. As I said earlier if anything it felt lighter.
I found the gear change a bit odd. The pedal is too inboard. Maybe another hour of riding and I’d have got used to it. Also the machine is a different set up on the left in so much as on the outgoing model the centre stand gets in the way of the left foot and on the new one it’s the side stand! A bit of fiddling about and all would be comfortable I suspect. Certainly wouldn't be a deal breaker.
Other than that it was a very easy bike to ride. Very quick but very civilised. Definitely seems like progress. Nevertheless I’m very happy with my GS which hardly feels like a massively inferior model.
However based on my test ride would I turn my nose up at a new one? Hell no!
But continue to use the facilities!![]()

Naw- just look to see what eveyones going on about/moaning as per and occasionally proffering words of wisdom for the unintiated.![]()
