With the bike sat for a long period over the last months, twice I have wheeled it out of the garage and when turning in the ignition - nothing......

Turn ignition off and then back on and all is good and the bike starts.

Never seen this before but the bike is normally not left sitting for a few months.

Is this some sort of waking up from a deep sleep anomaly?

Can’t find anything in the handbook.

After this it comes to life as normal on the first turn of the key.
Has only happened twice after being left sat idle for a few months.

Cheers

The Key operates 2 micro switches housed below the lock barrel , might be one of these sticking or dirty contacts after standing for a while.

It'll be the switch on the bottom of the ignition barrel. Easy to replace. Mine did the same on a lot of occasions years ago. Been fine since I replaced the switch. Some have been known to stay on on occasion.
